On May 8, 2014, Crystal Brackens-Prieston, the eldest sister of our Founder, tragically passed away just six months after giving birth to her second child, due to complications related to her heart. It wasn’t until three years later that we learned the true cause of her death: Postpartum Cardiomyopathy (PPCM). We wholeheartedly believe her passing was preventable. Crystal had a passion for raising awareness about organ donation and heart disease, especially within the healthcare community. Her legacy continues to inspire our mission, to uplift voices and create a future where all mothers are heard, respected, and properly cared for. A future where no woman is dismissed or misdiagnosed simply because her symptoms don’t fit the norm. Her final words were: “This condition is not for me, but for someone else.” Today, her words ring true, as millions of lives are being saved.
