3.7 million Americans have an undiagnosed heart condition.
Heart conditions can affect everyone, regardless of age, gender, or physical fitness, and can get better or worse as we age.
- LetsTalkPPCM is the world’s leading nonprofit PPCM organization representing the thousands of pregnant and postpartum women diagnosed with Peripartum Cardiomyopathy. We advocate for PPCM patients, BNP blood testing, postpartum exams, and affordable doula services, improve access to affordable treatment, offer direct advocate support, and empower the public with life-saving information.
- LetsTalkPPCM provides awareness, research, education, and healthcare assistance for patients and their families. By collaborating with healthcare providers, insurers, and home-based care providers, we elevate the patient experience and improve the quality and reliability of care that patients receive. Data collection is the process of gathering data for use in business decision-making, strategic planning, research, and other purposes.
- LetsTalkPPCM is committed to supporting those affected by peri/postpartum cardiomyopathy today, while tirelessly searching for tomorrow’s cause. We advocate on behalf of the estimated 1 in 1300 women in the United States who will be diagnosed with PPCM and the 299,578 who will die from heart disease in 2022 alone. Despite increased awareness over the past decades, only about half (56%) of women recognize that heart disease is their number 1 killer. Maternal mortality in the United States has doubled in the last 20 years, and PPCM is a leading cause of these deaths.
- PPCM screenings can be lifesaving as many people don’t realize that their family history might be putting them at risk or that their BNP blood levels are too high. Screenings—looking for the disease before there are symptoms—can be vital in saving a person’s life. Through PPCM screenings and timely intervention, serious problems can often be avoided. Peripartum Cardiomyopathy can go undetected until it has progressed to an advanced stage where outcomes are often poor and treatment costs are high.
- LetsTalkPPCM Would like to offer FREE mobile postpartum exams and BNP blood testing for U.S. mothers. Nt-proBNP testing is recommended to detect or rule out heart failure, including diastolic heart failure. To provide earlier PPCM detection in expecting and postpartum mothers, we have created a life-saving screening tool increased to be followed by post-partum care. We have collaborated with businesses like La Lueur Health & Wellness and My Favorite Phlebotomist to help bridge the gap in this area.
